Precipitated silica is a form of synthetic amorphous silicon dioxide that is derived from quartz sand which is a crystalline form of silicon dioxide. The physical properties of this type of silica can be manipulated during the manufacturing process to deliver products with a wide range of performance-enhancing features engineered for many different end-use applications. It is an important product in rubber industry and has been used for manufacturing tires, industrial rubber, silicone rubber and footwear.
